Players' Newsletter - September 8th, 2023
The summer is winding down and that means final Breeders’ Cup preps are upon us.
This weekend we have great coverage of racing both domestically and abroad. I chatted on the Players’ Podcast with Mick Fitzgerald about the Win-and-You’re-In races in Ireland tomorrow. Stateside, Nick Tammaro and I previewed Monmouth’s Late Pick 5 sequence and Drew Coatney gave us the lowdown on Woodbine. Michael Adolphson also joined me on the HorsePlayers’ Happy Hour to discuss some of the international races. You can catch that replay below.
Colonial Downs also has a super card tomorrow, featuring a very strong Virginia Derby field. Michael Domabyl and Jessica Paquette, our experts on the Virginia oval, looked at all the stakes in this preview.
There will also be a Kentucky Downs show out tomorrow morning, looking at their stakes-filled card featuring multiple WAYI’s for Breeders’ Cup grass races. Stay tuned!
Finally, I sat down with Dallas Baker of BetMakers and Nick Tammaro to give a fixed odds preview of this weekend’s action. BetMakers are the proponents of MonmouthBets and they are jumping into the social media space on X at @monmouthbets. They’ll be providing real time updates on major betting news and the tracks they are offering fixed odds on. Make sure to follow them there and learn more at monmouthbets.com.

Players’ Podcast - Labor Day Weekend Wrap-Up
On the new show, PTF looks back at a tremendous weekend of racing across the country starting with JK giving his thoughts on the big stakes at Saratoga. Then we have Eric DeCoster talking about the big ones at Kentucky Downs, and we wrap with Billy Koch of Little Red Feather Racing giving his views on the stakes from Del Mar.
PTF and special guests are back with a special all-Kentucky Downs version of Horseplayers' Happy Hour, where we look back at last week's Win-and-You're-In action and look ahead to what's coming this weekend. Harness Players’ Podcast – Saturday, September 9, 2023 @ Scioto Downs
On this episode of the Harness Players’ Podcast, host Edison Hatter is joined by Jenna Otten (Scioto Downs) and Derick Giwner (DRF Harness) to chat about the HUGE 18-race card at Scioto Downs this Saturday that includes over $3.7 million in purses as part of Ohio Super Night. The trio cover Races 5-14 during the show and give out tickets for the Pick 4 that covers Races 11-14, one of three $10,000 Guaranteed Pick 4 sequences on the card.
First Over with Edison Hatter — Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023 @ Woodbine Mohawk Park
First Over goes once again without Edison Hatter and instead has Ray Cotolo at the helm of a stakes-packed discussion for Woodbine Mohawk Park’s program on Saturday night (Sept. 9).
Woodbine Mohawk Park commentator and analyst John Rallis joins Ray Cotolo to break down the $100,000-guaranteed Pick 5, which opens the card covering Race 1 through Race 5. The two then dissect several stakes events including divisions of the Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots, Simcoe Stakes and Champlain Stakes.
