Well, that was brutal yesterday. We were alive no a nice score (3x no less!) and just lost it a nose in the last leg. But that’s racing sometimes. To make matters worse, it went down simultaneously to the Mets coughing up a 4-0 lead to the Dodgers. It wasn’t a fun 15 mins. But it was easily washed away with a couple of Vesper Martinis at Hamlet and Ghost with Brownie and the Ice Cream Man.
At least, as JK likes to say, yesterday’s result show that I’m“seeing the ball.”
Let’s see if we can hit it out of the park today.
Once again, the first part of this piece will go out to our whole list so this is a good place for me to put in a plug. We’ll have a lot of extra content for Plus subs this weekend include the ever-popular Grid Picks from the team as well as extra articles and shows. Also, as always, you’ll get emails with rundowns of the picks from the free shows. It’s a great value at $50/month and even better if you just bite the bullet and sign up for the whole year because that includes, at no added cost, all our extra summer meets, BC, and next year’s Kentucky Derby package.
Getting a late start today so I’ll tackle the Friday-Saturday wraparound Pick Four.
FRI Race 13 (G1 Just a Game)
The 13 is scratched.
My top selection here is #7 A LILAC ROLLA. She’s got Group 1 form in France and that plays very well stateside. She’s also got a nice run around a left-handed bend at Leopardstown, another course where success often indicates a runner who will do well on these shores.
I’ll also make #8 EXCELLENT TRUTH an A. I believe she would have won last time if not for the interference in deep stretch
B
#9 CHOISYA certainly makes sense off the Wiley win, even if it was aided by interference
I also want to include one speed horse and that will be #5 KEHOE BEACH for Wes Ward who is flying at the moment. It’s an interesting jockey change to the more patient Irad Ortiz from the hyper-aggressive Dettori. Perhaps she’ll stalk Special Wan and end up with a perfect trip?
FRI Race 14
Take out the 12 and 14
#1 KEEPINITREAL looks like a favorite to keep on side. When you bake in some figure improvement for age, he could be the fastest of these. Stablemate #1A IRON DOME draws in and he makes sense on the turnback in distance as well.
There’s a cool pedigree angle on a longshot I’ll also use as an A
