Make no mistake about it, most of the racing world will be focused on the action at Oaklawn and Gulfstream Park on Saturday. But there’s also a loaded card at Turfway Park that features the Jeff Ruby Steaks.
We covered the action last month and with a slightly better trip from Stolen Base, we’d have connected on a nice Pick 3.

Race 7 - Latonia Stakes
4 - BREEZE RIDER figures to take money in this spot. She’s perfect over the local strip, having beat several of today’s foes in her last race. That said, she’s a Racing Flow™ downgrade, having benefited from a soft pace in her last race. Finally, she spots weight to a number of the contenders in this race, including my top pick.
1 - CRAZY BEAUTIFUL is a multiple graded stakes winning filly and this spot represents her second start as a 4YO. She ran fine in her 4YO debut and picks up Brian Hernandez Jr. The post isn’t ideal but she’s getting weight from several and appears to be working well.
She’s run well on dirt (obviously) and finished in the exacta in both turf starts. I’m guessing she will handle the Turfway surface just fine and she’s a single for me in this spot. And, at anything over 2-1, I’d consider betting her to win.
For vertical wagers, 5 - WAIT FOR NAIROBI might be a solid underneath key. She loves Turfway Park and was compromised by the pace scenario in her last. Morales knows her well and she has some finish.
