These are the types of weekends we live for as horseplayers and racing fans. Opening weekend at Del Mar, a loaded stakes card at Monmouth, and a Grade 1 featuring one of the sport’s biggest superstars in Thorpedo Anna! The best part? We have everything you need to get ready across the ITM Network.
Three Players’ Podcasts lead us into the weekend. The first of which was released yesterday with JK and I looking at Del Mar opening day tomorrow as well as a very deep Pick Six sequence at Saratoga on Saratoga. The next one, hosted by Mike Pribozie, , as well as some competitive races at Woodbine and Colonial. Finally, Mike and Nick Tammaro look at the great stakes action from Monmouth.

Players’ Podcast - Del Mar Opening Day and Saratoga
PTF and JK kick things off by diving deep into the Saturday Saratoga Pick Six trying to see if they can find a sensible way to play the sequence.

Monmouth Park’s biggest day of the season with the 1 million dollar Haskell for 3 year olds going 1 mile and 1/8th on the Dirt. It anchors a $500,000 Guaranteed Pick 4 and Pick 5 with all Stakes races Saturday July 20th. Mike Pribozie is joined by Nick Tammaro to cover six Stakes on the card including G3 Molly Pitcher featuring Champion Idiomatic. The G3 Matchmaker and G2 United Nations on the grass are also discussed. The guys hit The G3 Monmouth Cup with the return of Tapit Trice looking to upset favored Highland Falls in a dirt clash. The Listed Wolf Hill also makes the broadcast as sprinters go 5 and a half on the Turf.

On the Lead - Episode 3: Aftercare Is Not An Afterthought

PTF and Shannon Kelly are back with the third edition of On the Lead in which they discuss the importance of thoroughbred aftercare and its evolution in the sport.
The show kicks off with Erin Birkenhauer of West Point Thoroughbred speaking about her role in the company’s internal aftercare organization, The Congie Fund, and her views about what more the industry can do to help its equine athletes.
Next up, Kendra Potasiewicz, a thoroughbred owner, talks about how important aftercare was to her decision to get involved in the business and to relate her experience taking care of Causeforcelebration, an ex-West Point runner.
Last but certainly not least, Kristin Werner of the Jockey Club gives us a little bit of the history of TJC’s involvement in aftercare and relates some amazing personal stories about the powerful connections between humans and horses she’s seen.
