Santa Anita Thursday Analysis
Mike Pribozie and Justin Christien are here to preview the Pick Six sequence at Santa Anita this afternoon, which features a $60,769 carryover!
Mike Pribozie
Race 4: (7) Luther Pass - looks the fastest on paper with 67 and 66 Beyer figs in his last two at this level since stretching out. Five year old maiden is difficult to trust given his lack of finish, but he has a pace edge here. What to do with (4) Demotivate? He wasn’t very motivated first out May 4 in a straight maiden on the grass. 450k purchase now is gelded and in for 20k rather quickly for sharp connections. Usually I like to play against these types but can understand the appeal given the level. (5) Citadino - claimed from Sadler after drop 5/17. Jorge Periban is 10% off the claim, but excels with maiden claimers winning at 30% with a $6.06 ROI from 20 starters. This one removes blinkers after weakening rapidly in last while the 3/5 favorite. Pick 6
A: #7 Luther Pass
B: #5 Citadino
Race 5: (3) Iscreamuscream - returns for D’Amato after a sharp first out maiden win here 10/14 going 6F on the Turf. Was bet to 4-1 in that start and was never in danger pulling away late. Resumed working in late January but was off the tab for a month from 3/31 to 4/27. Sharp tab since including a 1/44 bullet 5F move 6/1. Barn has them ready she’s strictly the one to beat. (5) Rascality - hard to fault since turning to the grass with nice win 2/25 notching a 79 Beyer. Returned May 5 in G3 Senorita off lasix and finished up nicely to be 2nd with 75 Fig. Lasix back on now for this spot and enough speed to be close throughout. (6) Soho - returned well 5/11 for Sadler on the grass getting caught late going 6F. Stakes lines at two after nice first up maiden win with 75 Beyer. She improved on that top figure in latest with a 78 after adding lasix. She’s a player here but could have company up front. (4) Esprit Enchante - is an interesting entrant here given her return from a November layoff where she tried the BC Juvenile Fillies. She was 73/1 that day off a maiden win where she had trouble. New surface and lasix now, could be used as a C type back up play.
A: #3 Iscreamuscream, #5 Rascality, #6 Soho
C: #4 Esprit Enchante
