Six weeks into the harness players newsletter and we are growing. The ITM Players Newsletter has helped with over 16,000 views so far, but we are looking to get those horseplayers interested in Standardbreds over to subscribing to this newsletter. It will be posted to those subscribers for time being but will eventually move over to this form with occasional hits for the big events.
Hoosier Park reopened this past week with solid handle and their usual chaotic results. If you like shoot for carryovers, with the amount of multi leg wagers they offer it’s a great chance to make a score.
Borgata and Matchmaker moved on to leg two and Mohawk took the week off. Desperate Man and Rocknroll Runa repeated this week and Whats Stanley Got grabbed more points with a sharp win. The series has proven interesting so far with some new shooters performing better than expected. Dunkin’ is one of those who showed up in leg two for top connections and promptly went down the road. The Matchmaker looks very competitive with no repeating winners in round two. Mikala returned to form beating a tough division and Intothemysticmoon and Jive Dancing were also winners.
Another stellar pod this week with Fraser being featured Friday with Mohawk being off, a Stable.ca segment with Garnet Barnsdale to promote the upcoming webinars and to give the “horseplayer” perspective and a Yonkers preview for the ongoing series.
Check out my article this week on the “Guest” handicapper idea we have done on Fridays at Mohawk on Nahupicks.com.

Want to be a public handicapper?
In February and March this year, nahupicks.com decided to offer Friday night Mohawk to “Guest” handicappers who would follow the typical Nahupicks.com format for that night’s races. That person would be featured on the Woodbine Mohawk feed in the usual nahupicks.com site (Thanks Luke). As a horseplayer and handicapper it is quite the feeling to submit one’s picks for the public to follow and have them displayed next to your name on the track feed. Also Friday nights on nahupicks.com typically have 700-1000 views on the Mohawk page. I know it still never gets old for me even 5 years into doing this. The question is how did the “guests” fair for their efforts??? Thanks to resident Canadian stats man Gabe Di Paolo (who also took a week and crushed it with 5 winners); I have some results. So far we have had some of HRT (Horse Racing Twitter)’s finest putting in work on Fridays. In 85 races over 8 weeks the group produced 25 winners (29%) with a $1 ROI of 0.945. Solid work by our group on the win end. Second choice winners (boosted by Brad A and his 6) produced another 22 winners (25%) with a sharp ROI of 1.20. So 55% of Fridays races were picked in the top two by our handicappers, so its obvious they did their homework.
These guys/gals are frequent horseplayers. Murray Slough, Brad A, Rod Allums, Jr., Mel Keith, SPN, Gabe, Charlie B, and Matrix Dave all have their own styles and gave their rationale for their selections. All produced winners and hopefully contributed to some positive tickets for the players that followed.
We will continue with this on Fridays moving forward into April. With Mohawk being off this Friday Jack DiMatteo will have Saturday night and here’s the schedule for April:
4/5 Doug Hemwood
4/12 Matt Presto
4/19 Adam Caputo
4/26 Cheyenne Christman

Harness Players’ Podcast | Fraser Downs Pick 5 + MGM Borgata Series Leg 3 Preview + Stable.ca segment with Garnet Barnsdale
This week on the Harness Players’ Podcast join host Edison Hatter as he and guest analysts Garnet Barnsdale and Mike Pribozie break down the Pick 5 sequence at Fraser Downs for Friday, March 29.
In TheStable.ca Spotlight segment, Mike Pribozie is joined by Garnet Barnsdale to discuss his involvement and experience as an owner with TheStable.ca and to highlight the upcoming Webinars for those interested in becoming owners.
To wrap the show, Edison Hatter, Mike Pribozie, and Ray Cotolo talk the three divisions for the third preliminary of the MGM Borgata Series at Yonkers Raceway, which will go post ward on Monday, April 1.
For daily harness racing analysis and selections, be sure to check nahupicks.com for contenders at tracks across North America.
The Week Ahead from Kevin Plowcha
We're back after a week off to once again preview the featured action in harness racing for the upcoming week. Two stops to make around North America as the calendar soon flips to April.
Stop number one this week is Yonkers Raceway where the third legs of both the Blue Chip Matchmaker and Borgata Pacing Series will be contested.
(#1) Jive Dancing A highlights the first BCMM division in race 4. She just held off (#5) Dougs Babe A with a front end trip last week and will look to do the same this week from the rail.
(#1) Tony's Mom, listed as the 8-5 ML favorite in race 10, finds an easier division after having to rough it first over against the likes of Mikala and Delitfulcatherin N. She will have every chance with the rail advantage this week.
Race 11 will see two previous leg winners square off as both (#4) Incaseyoudidntknow and (#6) Mikala have wins under their belt in this series. Both went off as the favorite in their respective divisions last week.
The Borgata will also contest three divisions this week rather than four. The full field of eight in race 5 will be targeting (#6) Linedrive Hanover who finished a solid second to a well meant Desperate Man. None of the horses in this field won a leg last week.
Race 8 will see (#1) Dunkin' try to repeat after a front-end victory. He will leave from the rail. (#6) Backstreet Shadow and (#7) Hellabalou will need the right trips from their respective outside posts to be in position to win.
Race 9 appears to be a one horse race as the aforementioned (#3) Desperate Man was a well meant winner last time out. He leaves from post three looking for three in a row.
The second and final stop this week is Woodbine Mohawk Park who returns after their week-long hiatus this Saturday, March 30th, with a massive 15-race card.
Both the New Holland Pacing and Trotting series finals take place on the marathon card, located in races 6 and 9 respectively.
Race 6 features the pacers and features (#3) Whichwaytothebeach who posted a strong winning effort in 1:50.3 in leg two. He's your slight ML favorite at 5-2.
(#1) HP Momentum and (#4) Jilliby Dynamite A also have wins in this series and draw good enough posts to contend.
Race 9 will likely have a heavy favorite as (#2) Pemberton comes off an easy win in the last leg. He draws another favorable post and is the one to beat.
That's all for this week's featured harness racing action! See you next week.
Make sure to save and follow the ITM blog for daily picks from your favorite tracks and more racing coverage!
Spot Plays for the Weekend of 3/29 and 3/30 presented by
Nahupicks.com
Friday 3/29, Meadowlands Race 12 (2) Sevenshadesofgrey- will get a chance to race on the big track after a couple of really good, and unlucky efforts at Yonkers over his last two starts. In his most recent, he jumped it off after clearing to the lead as the even money choice, and two back, he gapped over on the final turn but showed a lot of late interest in the straight. With a longer stretch to work with, this six year old son of Chapter Seven should enjoy racing at M1. Pat Ryder picks up a live one.
~John Rallis (Catch him on M1 TV this weekend)
Friday 3/29, Meadowlands Race 13- (1) Stay Classy faced a tougher group and had to rough it first over last time at Pocono. She showed potential at Mohawk and at Pocono on 3/12. Makes her M1 debut with Todd McCarthy in the bike, I will take my chances.
~Kevin Plowcha
Saturday 3/30, Meadowlands Race 4 - (6) Adam Crocker A (6/1 ML)- Has breaking issues, but also has tons of speed. The big track should help him. The price is right with TT driving.
~Rod Allums, Jr.
Saturday 3/30, Woodbine Mohawk Race 8 (10) Gimme a Corona- good speed to get position last time, best closing quarter at 26/3. Track rated slow last time.
~Doug Kenwood
Saturday 3/30, Woodbine Mohawk Race 11- (8) Ballykeel Painter is the best closer in a race that should have an honest pace to chase.
~Garnet Barnsdale
Saturday 3/30, Woodbine Mohawk Race 13- (8) Reactor Now A- Was not given clearance in “McNair lane” last time by front-ending Jabberwocky. Appeared to have pace, no space. Fits well here.
~Murray Slough
Saturday 3/30, Woodbine Mohawk Race 14- (6) Saulsbrook Victor tried to go to the lead vs toughies last week and raced well. He’s classy and could end up in the pocket here with Jabberwocky in the race.
~Mike Pribozie
Sunday 3/31 Rideau Carleton Race 5- (6) Ladycorona makes her first start as a 4 yo. Her only 2023 was here 8/10 parked most of the mile and won going away in 1:57.2 on a sloppy track. Sharp 1:59.1 qualifying win on the front 3/29.
