GULFSTREAM MANDATORY PAYOUT PICK 6 – 03/02/2025
RACE 6
A: 4
B: 2,6
The opening leg of the mandatory payout Rainbow Six is a turf sprint where the main speed might offer some real value at the windows. That is #4 ETRURIAN to me, who enters off a third place finish where she contested the pace and ultimately tired late. The rival immediately to her inside isn’t quite as fast early, so Etrurian should be able to get to the top. Her form looks to be rounding back to where it was earlier in her career when she looked to have a future in stakes races.
The backups to me include #2 CREED’S GOLD and #6 TIFFANY GOLD, both of whom are off the pace types who’ll benefit if the top pick falters. The race that Tiffany Gold ran two back when behind subsequent stakes winner Eopna’s Hope was good enough to win this thing. Creed’s Gold gets an acknowledgement simply because of the strength of Mark Casse’s run at this meet and her most recent start.
RACE 7
A: 6,9
B: 1,4,5,8,10
The last outing for #6 ROYAL ACT was easily good enough to win this thing. He’s in light once again with the double bug astride and the return to a dry surface will hardly hurt his chances. He has a ton of back form that makes him a threat and he will get some pace to run at this afternoon. The price will be very appealing as well. It would seem foolish to go hog wild for Royal Act and not use #9 BRINGER OF RAIN, even if the latter is first off what might be a negative claim. Bringer of Rain has plenty of speed and should be forwardly placed.
The balance of the field is made up of many of the same horses, so it’s a good opportunity to cast a wide net. The best of them is likely #5 TRAPPEZOID, who faltered last out but attributing that to the wet track seems reasonable.
RACE 8
A: 2,7,9
B: 1,4,5,6,11
This is arguably the toughest leg of the sequence given how competitive it shapes up on paper. The debut run of #7 TELLUS MATER was undoubtedly good enough to win this with routine improvement second time out. This filly is from the barn of Graham Motion, who has picked things up noticeably of late. He won yesterday’s The Very One with Beach Bomb and this gal retains John Velazquez today. #2 HEREFORAGOODTIME moves from the Tapeta to turf for Brendan Walsh and has trained forwardly since her last outing. The inside post should enable her to save ground throughout and she was always in attendance of a fast pace last time out.
The biggest move forward in here likely comes from #9 INESPEREE, who made a strong late move on debut on the Tapeta despite some stretch trouble. She should improve on the grass second time out and will be a square price.
RACE 9
A: 1,2
B: 3,7
#2 PAY ZONE was dead on the board last time out at the N2X level when he was running out of condition. He’s back where he belongs against lesser and should be the main speed from this inside post position. He is clearly quick enough to get loose in the opening stages and will be a fair price in a competitive heat. #1 DILGER is also dangerous as he goes 2nd off a layoff following a good effort behind Into Pleasure when last seen. He benefits if the pace heats up in here, but you’re going to have to take a short price.
#3 UNCAPTURED WARRIOR goes 3rd off a layoff for trainer Saffie Joseph, Jr. after chasing the pace and tiring late last time out on the Tapeta. He is accomplished enough on dirt to get serious consideration and should be a late threat with Irad Ortiz, Jr. aboard.
RACE 10
A: 2,5,9,10,11
B: 3,4,7,8
Full disclosure – I made #11 VESTING my best bet of the day on Twinspires but that also has to do with price. He is going to be a fair price relative to his chances of winning in my opinion. This is, however, a very wide open race in the context of a multi-race bet. Vesting is quick enough to procure a forward position, but there are many other horses who can win. #10 WENTRU is the main speed with John Velazquez, who tends to have little to no company on the front end when he gets his mounts to that spot. #5 L’ANTHARIS is a late runner who seems to find his way into traffic trouble more often than not, but is a good trip away from clearing this condition.
Don’t short-change #2 KID CAIRO, who gets Frankie Dettori after showing speed and weakening late last time out. He’ll be a fair price as well in this spot.
RACE 11
A: 3,5,9
B: 2
If alive to this point, it’ll be just fine to have the three As, headed by #5 CASH THE MONEY. That son of Gun Runner was 2nd last time out at Tampa Bay Downs and should be in position from just off the pace today as a new gelding. He has speed and John Velazquez, which is a good combo around these parts on the turf. #9 BULLDOZE should improve second time out off a promising debut run. He was compromised on a turf course that played to speed, so a fairer strip should be right in his wheelhouse. #3 TIZ FERVOR is kin to a couple of turf winners, including stakes winner Strong Quality. He should be ready on debut for Bill Mott, who is plenty dangerous with a firster going long on the weeds.
Good luck! Thanks to 1/ST Bet for their partnership on the ITM Network!
