How He Got Here

Fierceness is the reigning Eclipse champion two-year-old and took home the hardware at the Breeders’ Cup with a resounding win in the Juvenile. As a sophomore, an unlucky trip compromised his chances in his first start of the year in the Holy Bull Stakes but he acquitted himself sharply with a romp in the Florida Derby. In the Florida Derby, he got out of the gate cleanly and controlled the race at every call, winning by an effortless 13 ½ lengths under confident handling by John Velazquez. Any question about whether or not he progressed from two to three physically were answered that day and he has been training forwardly in Florida since that race. He will try to become the third Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner, joining Street Sense and Nyquist, to win the Derby.
