2025 Kentucky Derby - ITM Speed Figures - UPDATED 4/28/25
Anyone who has played fantasy sports knows how important projections are to your season-long and even daily lineup leagues. However, while projections ingest loads of data and execute extensive simulations, they can still miss the mark in terms of stat prediction. In an attempt to continually provide better prognostication, some projection systems now weigh and average other projections to achieve a (hopefully) more accurate prediction of key statistics. Most notably, this has been done with success by ATC projections for Major League Baseball. This mindset sparked an idea at In the Money to aggregate different types of speed figures for Kentucky Derby runners to better predict success and win probability. Enter the ITM Speed Figure. We are sharing this information in hopes it helps your handicapping process and bets on Derby Day as another tool in the toolbox.
