2020 Horseplayers' Gift Guide
Whether you need gift ideas for yourself (send this as a hint?) or the horseplayer in your life, we thought it might be helpful to provide a few horse racing themed ideas!

Our friends at Old Smoke Clothing have tons of options whether you’re looking for shirts, hats, or other accessories. We have a few ITM specific items and as always, you can get free shipping by using the promo code - MONEY
Breeders’ Cup
The Breeders’ Cup Shop is already stocked for the 2021 event and they have tons of options to celebrate one of the biggest racing weekends every year. Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation
If you’re shopping for someone that literally has everything, consider a charitable donation, made in their name, to our partners at TRF. And if they’re fans of ITM, PTF still has a couple of bottles of ITM Whiskey that he can ship out for donations of $150.
Handicapping Books
Books are a timeless gift tradition and there are several staples that are must-own for serious horseplayers. PTF has co-authored several and if you act fast, you might be able to snag a signed copy in time for Christmas. The best way to order is through the ITM site - HERE.
Books available from PTF:
Betting with an Edge by Mike Maloney with Peter Thomas Fornatale
The Winning Contest Player by Peter Thomas Fornatale
Six Secrets of Successful Bettors by Frank R. Scatoni and Peter Thomas Fornatale
May The Horse Be With You: Pack at the Track by Harvey Pack with Peter Thomas Fornatale
Gift Cards
Hear us out…It’s no secret that 2020 has been incredibly difficult. While horseplayers have had the benefit of ongoing racing, their ability to attend live racing was severely limited. Beyond that, the pandemic has been devastating to many small businesses, especially restaurants. We’re staying optimistic here and suggesting that you consider planning a racing trip in 2021. You don’t need to decide all the specifics but we’d suggest buying a gift card at some of the restaurants around racing venues. Here’s a small sample of the possibilities:
SARATOGA: Walt and Whitman Brewing - Brentwood Hotel & Bar - Solevo
SANTA ANITA / DEL MAR: Pacific Coast Grill - Din Tai Fung - Arroyo Chop House - The Derby - The Brigantine - Jake’s Del Mar
MONMOUTH: Blu Grotto Ristorante - Carton Brewing
Horse Country Tours
A Horse Country Tour would make for an excellent gift, especially for fans that are truly appreciative of the majesty and history of the sport. There are tours for just about every budget and group size. ITM Partner, Mill Ridge Farm is featured prominently but there are endless options featuring some special behind the scenes opportunities at nearly every historic farm in Kentucky. If you’re unable to travel to Kentucky, we’d suggest you still take a look at some of the virtual tours they’ve started offering.
Thanks for reading and supporting ITM and our Partners. Please share this post and feel free to post your ideas on Twitter!
